Dear Kathleen,
No doubt you were a bit worried well I guess we were also but we had so much to do that we didn't have much time for it. We slept the storm out in the big hangers on the base. The medical detachment had beds but all the rest slept on the floors so we were rather lucky don't you think. Cooks were the only ones that had a mess hall open yesterday so we were very fortunate from that angle too.
Today we moved back to the hospital area as it was in perfect shape. A few shingles blew off but that was about the size of it. A little water got into the ward which I mopped up this morning when I got back. All in all it was just a good wind storm.
The phones around the area still out of order but we are getting along okay. I do hope you are find and dandy. Gee, I do love to hear from you too Kathleen. I'm also looking forward toward December very much. Sure glad to hear you like your new job. And that leave sounds good on your part.
It has been a wonderful day and now it is a grand evening. Now back to the old routine and everything will be find and dandy. Gee I must write Mother tonite also or send her a telegram but I suppose they are snowed under so a letter will have to do. My raincoat is just a bit sticky I found out during this ordeal.
Kathleen I have been quite busy and as I've told you this thing has not helped it a lot. Tomorrow they are supposed to inspect our wards but perhaps the commanding officer will call it off. We polished all the brass today to be on the safe side. We also got a couple new patients and four which were in the hangers so we have six in all.
I don't seem to remember this Hubbard boy but perhaps I do know him.
Well McArthur is on his way and Acchan has finally been taken. I got a letter from Alfred Bates the other day and he is inside Germany somewhere. His moral is very high.
I certainly will not disappoint you when I get home. We shall go all through those pictures of mine and I shall try and tell you something about each one of them. I've got most of them in a scrapbook but I still have a lot to put in when I get back.
Yes, It is very hard to know what to send overseas. One doesn't know what is coming through and what isn't. The spirit is the thing that really counts.
I hate to say good bye but since I can't seem to think of anything more at this time I will close. So long and remember I'm thinking of you and gee we'll have a lot to do when I see you.
Truly yours,
Milan
