December 4, 1944

Dear Milan,

Mother called me today at work and told me I had another letter from you at home. I can't wait maybe it will have some news for I know now when you do get to come you may know just a few hours before you leave, will be the chance.

You mentioned in the letter Saturday you thought of calling me. Goodness! that would have excited me so not be expecting it. I wonder if I could have talked. Yes, I know I could, but it would have been something new. I was not at home all evening Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, however I was here Thursday and Friday. I had been wondering just what might be wrong when you didn't write all last week until Saturday, but figured it was a good reason, and sure enough it was.

Well there will be even much more to talk about when you arrive now, another move. Isn't it mountainous near Nashville? Ray says its very pretty, the farms seem to be very good in Kentucky, but the modern convenience are meager as a whole.

I have just been talking to a woman who has been to Nashville as she assures me, it is not a nice place to be, its damp and cold. What I am wondering does that put you in to another Air Force like you were in 1st, are you by any chance in 2nd now? I have been looking in our T.O. books at the maps, but they don't seem to give me that information. Let's see didn't you say something about being able to get a transfer into another place in case it was in the same Air Force? Since it is damp and cold, I am wondering if the climate will be very satisfactory with the skin condition. All I am doing is just wondering, of course every thing always works out and usually for the best, I hope. It will now only take 24 hours to get home, won't it?

Saturday when I got your letter, my first idea was if your folks had a phone I would have called them in case they hadn't heard of the move. I know how mother and dad enjoy hearing any news about Ray and Theo.

I will come to close and finish after I read your letter that awaits me at home; it has been raining for the last 48 hours continually. Hope it can be nice when you get your furlough I have a chance to buy a car, but since I can't see it, I am a little doubtful about it. It's a V-8, '35, they want $225. Some soldiers that are mechanics have had it, however I can't figure just why they want to get rid of it, if it is in good condition.

(Next day at work)

I stopped up-town and did some shopping in the rain, some of the stores say open on Monday night, helps out. So it was rather late. So you managed two Thanksgivings this year- not bad.

It looks as though by the letter, you might be home before this even gets to you and then again not. It will be o.k. to give me a ring at work ext. 21, however since it is a army place, they don't like a lot of personal visiting over the phone but such cases it would be alright.

I'll bet working at something different for awhile is a nice change. There is one good point about Nashville, good meals. Didn't Tampa have very good meals.

Let's see if you were still at Tampa, you would be on your way here by now, who knows maybe you are.

For the first time in days we have been busy today it seems every time I get this into the machine, out it comes some more work comes through. We have been having some big bugs around here the past several days, we have been informed to keep busy even if we don't have any thing to do. That is hard sometimes.

Well, it won't be long now until we see one another, after all we have been thinking of the used to be and the letters, one really don't know whether there is really any thing but friendship, however I have truly enjoyed every letter you have written, and above I do hope I don't disappoint you in any way, that is cute "you will die trying" you express my sentiments the way I feel about my self. Bye for now.

With love,
Kathleen
