My dearest Wife,

Well honey it isn't so strange that you hesitate about your name. Here is it the eighth and I still insist on using "44" instead of "45". Then too my love it does take time which is the wonderful part about it all. I'm equally proud of you my love and always shall be. I'm so glad that folks all like those pictures of us. I was rather scared mother didn't get us in. I sort of believe I left some film at home which you can pick up before you come up as it will probably come in handy as we'll want to take as many pictures as we possibly can. I have two rolls here. I forgot to look for those screens at home might remind mother for me might be able to find them if she knows what to look for.

What apts I seen almost everything was furnished except some cooking utensils, dishes and eating utensils which one can pick up anywhere. The main thing is to bring along enough personal clothing to keep warm. Sheets are furnished in most of the places I've seen in fact all of them. Right now there are none to be had so I'll have to wait till something opens up. A lot of navy folk are still in town and they will be leaving. Rooms are plentiful so perhaps we'll have to live in one of those places where they will give us K. Priv. My love there isn't anything quite like dreaming. I only hope I'm not taking too much for granted. This place is due to open around the first so I sort of figured if you got here a little early you might be able to find what you wanted and also get on at the base if they take on help which they no doubt will from all the reports one hears but of course one can't believe all he hears. I think we can always write back if you need more. I certainly wouldn't bring along too much though. I'm going to continue to call Chamber of Commerce and if he gets some places I'll go have a look at them.

I've been over at the hospital messing around but didn't do anything in particular. So far I've not been assigned to do anything. I hope I'll have the same set up I had at Nashville so I'm keeping my eyes open as I want to catch Capt. Harrison when he arrives here as I worked for him in Nashville.

Golly your hunch certainly came true. I certainly didn't expect to come up here in the first bunch but here I am. I don't expect that I will move unless it becomes an actual necessity and that will take a couple of months. Of course I don't think they can use all those men they have at Nashville and from what I hear they intend to bring them up so I sort of think they will send part of us else where but thats all just a guess for they might expand this a lot and also never send all those fellows up here as we've been told. I'd love to have a car and if I get a chance to get a good one we'll certainly have one as that's the only way to move about the country but we would want a good one which won't give us any trouble.

Honey I hope you were able to read that first page. Yes, we certainly have a lot to look forward to and it is all so wonderful. Certainly hope we don't have to be separated too long at [a] time and as far as I can see now we are very fortunate indeed. I'm ever so happy that I found you my loved one for you certainly are darling dear.

Gee honey that certainly must have been a lovely shower. I've certainly missed out on a lot of nice things but I've sure been on the move to make up for it but now my love I'm ready to settle down for awhile as this is a very nice spot. Those pillows certainly will come in handy later. Yes an iron does come in handy personally I like these new steam irons very well but one can't use them on everything though.

Well considering everything your letter did very well getting here in about four days. I'll bet you get two in one day from up here. It seems like we've been here such a long time but actually it was only yesterday morn. Strange why one feels that way.

Darling I'm surely looking forward to the day you'll be able to be with me once again. Oh Gee it will be great to be together once again. Yes dearest it is all very new but my love it is so wonderful to have someone thats all my own my companion through life. It is a great feeling to know one isn't alone. Oh my darling I love you with all my heart. Sweet dreams until tomorrow. Sweet dreams.
