Dear Kathleen,
Gee! I certainly got a bang out of the way you stated it about my moving. Yes I do miss the sunshine very much but I do have better working hours and a lot easier job. Also we are closer to activities that take place at service club and it is only a fifteen minute bus trip to town. No, one never knows how long he will stay in one place while he is in the armed forces.
Yes, Kathleen I'm about half ways home but it won't be till around the last of this month till I'll be able to make the other half. I know you must be disappointed and so am I but there were too many new fellow back from overseas whom got preference which was only fair as they had not a furlough since they had been back home.
We are in Hq Airforce here so I'll just wear a plain ensign now if and when I get around to take the 3rd Air Force patch off. So we can be sent at almost minutes notice to some other part of the Unites States if they open up some more Convalescent Hospitals. We are under General Arnold's command.
I certainly would have been delighted if I could have taken you to that U.S.O formal. I fear I won't be able to make that one the 23rd but I do want to have the pleasure of taking you to the one at New Years time if they have one. Well if no other way we'll have a celebration all our own. New Years marks my folk's wedding anniversary and yes I guess I'll be a year older too.
It has been rather chilly here at least I thought so: Well it got cold enough to snow last weekend. Today it has been cloudy and rainy. I'm sort of getting used to the climate now though.
I believe I like it here alright. For one thing there is a friendly atmosphere around town and the service club. There is a dance at the club four times a week. Last nite they had Bingo and I won two meals at a Cafe in town so you should be around so we could go in for a chicken dinner.
I'm certainly going to try and improve my dancing as I had not danced since I was home last. These gals are very willing so I might as well take advantage of the fact as I had almost forgot how to keep time in music. They're having a dance this evening with the Air Force Band playing so I think I'll go over and swing out.
Again I want you to know I'd given anything to have been able to go to that formal but I'm still in the Army. By the way what would you like for Santa to bring you for Xmas this year. Sweet dreams till I hear from you again.
With love,
Milan
