November 8, 1944

Dear Milan,

That's too bad about the cold they are not a bit pleasant. The boating sounds like fun, is it in the bay or ocean? How many fish did you catch? It sounds as though you don't get Sunday off.

Well election has come and gone and soon will be Dec. 5 and that will be a delightful two weeks and I don't mean maybe.

How does the election returns strike the majority of the boys down at the Mc Dill? Incidentally Milan could you tell me who would take over in case the president, vice-president and Sec. of state should die? ---the undertakers would take over ha! ha! I bit on it my self.

Speaking of film Mother was not able to get any at Hall's this month. It's been discontinued I guess.

I went to the WG hospital with the USO to dance with the patients however it turned out a visiting party mostly. Many of them were unable to even walk. It really makes a civilian realize a war is taking place. I love to dance, but it was fun listening to them talk and tell about their experience which they seem to want us to hear about. Are there many injured from overseas patients stationed at McDill?

Speaking of McDill I've been sending out a lot of advanced shipping tickets to your field the past several days.

Do you like Florida better then at first? Does the dampest there cause the rash that you had in England? I bet you will love Florida when you get here and it's snowing and it's lovely down there. I really don't think I half appreciated Calif. until I got here. I'm itching to return.

Have you decided whether you will come by bus or train? I hope you have better luck then the last. It won't be long now, let's see when you get this, it will be three weeks- not bad?

It's a good thing your Mother didn't notice it in the paper about the Florida storm, to keep her from worrying. I guess I'm a little lax about keeping up with the news except what comes over the radio instead of reading I spend that time sewing. The last several days at noon and riding home I've been knitting some wash cloths for gifts or something, haven't decided. Got the idea from Marilyn's shower, she was given some as a gift. Some think I'm a bit foolish to spend all the time on wash cloths.

Must draw this to a close. Bye for now.

Truly Yours,
Kathleen.
