Dear Kathleen,
Here's hoping this letter doesn't cause as much excitement as the last one did. I never thought it might cause you to worry. Everything looks favorable at the present time so I suppose my furlough will go through okay. The Sgt. said something about setting it back one day so perhaps I'll be leaving on the eve of the 4th and I suppose I'll take the train. Otherwise things remain just like they were. By the way don't be surprised if I give you a ring when I get in for that's just what I intended to do for we'll have a lot to talk about. My Aunt and cousin live in Seabrook so I can stay at their house if my folks are not there to meet me or can't get in.
Gee! Kathleen it is just perfect wonderful, two letters from you within a couple of days. I wanted to write sooner but I've been so tired that I just hit my bunk after cleaning up a bit. I hope to have another helper starting tomorrow so perhaps Sidney and myself will be able to take it just a bit easier. We have worked the past week without any time off. We've had around fifteen patients and had to feed nine of them on the ward. Three of them have been bed patients and we had to give them baths and everything. Of course we do all KP and cleaning up in General so we sure are wore down. Well it is well worth it if I can get home to see you.
I got two swell letters today from boys I was with while I was in England. It is always swell to hear from them. This one boy whom writes me lives in Neb. so perhaps we'll get to see one another one of these days. At the present time there is ice on the ground over there and quite cold. Gee! That is a lot different from the type of weather we are having down here. It has been raining today but it isn't very cold outside.
Tampa isn't a very well planned city and the fact they dump their sewage into the Bay doesn't improve things either. St. Pete across the bay is a very nice clean city. In my way of thinking you can't beat the weather we are having now but gee it certainly wasn't a bit nice this past summer. Well some people like it down here and others don't. There isn't a lot to do down here for one thing.
I'm hoping to go out fishing Wed. if I get this new helper. I certainly enjoy going out boating and fishing especially when the fish are biting. The trout season really doesn't open till about Jan. but there are quite a few in the bay at the present time. We have been using Salad oil to fry the fish in and it sure works great. Of course these Century Hot Points are very nice to fry things on too.
I went to a movie last eve but for the life of me I can't think of the name of it. I certainly enjoyed "For Whom The Bell Tolls".
Yes, Kathleen a year ago I was a special guest at the Farm Bureau Dinner but I had to get up out of a sick bed to make it and even then I could hardly speak but I did enjoy it ever so much and something to remember. Yes, I've been very lucky in more way than one I guess. It certainly was sweet of you to get this latest letter on its way sooner for gee they mean ever so much to me. I'm just living for the day when I can be there at home with you. Yes, I 'll probably be working Thanksgiving Day as yet I don't even know on which day will get the big dinner on. Well someone has to take care of the sick and try and cheer them up. I have one officer whom got caught in the upper turret and has a fractured clavicle.
By the way two weeks to the day before I leave. I must bid you good-nite and pleasant dreams for now.
With Love,
Milan
