Darling,

What are you doing- trying to keep warm- we are. This new warehouse is so cold. It won't be long now though. Girls tell me they are preparing me for the worst. But I am coming prepared. Milan, I will either get to Plattesburg Wed evening at 5:30 if I leave Chicago at 6:00 PM Tues. But if I don't leave Chicago until 10 AM Wed I will get in there Thursday noon. I will send a telegram from Chicago Tues even. It will depend how well I can find some warm clothes.

Oh yes darling I was talking with my Capt. He used to e stationed in Plattesburg. He says its a beautiful place in the summer. Lake Placid is a lovely place. Skiing is all the rage [I] guess. We'll have to take a try at it- Oh Gee! it sounds exciting. I really can't wait to get there.

January 10, 1945

Darling, I've been asking around trying to make this day off count since its the last one before I come. Have been to the bank. I got some traveler checks just in case we might need them before my next pay check turns up which will be some time before the 24th. Let's see you won't need the bank book will you before I get there?

We got paid yesterday, but my check looks sick after getting some things I'd needed and so on. Even though I had my raise, they docked me one day by mistake, will make it up next time and one day over time and income tax changed I should have a little bit better check coming next time. I have enough annual leave that I should [be] able to just [be] paid up until I get on to another pay roll.

Wed. evening I've come out to Grandma's to have supper and then Mary, Charles and her folks are coming over. I've been informed they have a gift for us. I'll tell you later what it is when they come.

Oh yes darling I am so happy I'm doubling over with joy. I'd been anticipating that visit to a doc. I went today. She has taken my measurements for a diaphragm, she called it. It's a sure protection now there won't be any worry. I am very happy and do hope you will be.

Gee! everyone is so nice. Grandma gave me a nice cosmetic bag with a mirror a nice size for an over night bag oh yes some warm bed stocking maybe I won't need them, we can keep each other warm.

Darling as time goes closer for me to come I can hardly wait. The captain was telling me about a certain train I should plan to take out of Chicago I must check with him tomorrow. But darling I'm going to do my best to make it there Wed night, but one week tonight, won't that be wonderful. I really am all ready. Am going out to your folks tomorrow Sat. I got up to that Doctor Earnest Sunday well let's see that one day before I leave Gee! I can't wait. I must close now. Hoping I'm lucky enough to get a letter tomorrow however I'll have to wait until Friday go get it since I'm not going home.

Darling, they have been here. Gee! they brought us the most beautiful silver salt and pepper shakers about 4" high and real heavy. They are lovely sweetheart
