My dearest Hubby,
Yes, isn't it strange, I [am] still hesitating on my new name and find myself looking around when Mrs. Smercheck is called out. But it is all so wonderful and I am so very proud of you darling. I have had another set of those pictures printed from your camera, have been showing them here at work. Do I ever puff up inside when they say Gee! but he is good looking or handsome. I try to tell them he is even much more then handsome. He is perfectly wonderful.
Sweetheart I think I'll have to have you mention in your letter not to bring very much or something. Mother has me bringing oh so much. Maybe that will be way to convince her. Just how many shirts would I bring you started to mention something about such- you know we can always write home for things if necessary or heck! don't think I'm crossing the bridge before I get there. All I'm doing is dreaming that I'm on the way.
That was very nice of you to send the anniversary card with both names. Gee! I'm not very thoughtful, it seems.
Oh, yes, darling you did express your thanks to my folks. They surely enjoy the card you sent from St Louis too. And my folks think the world of you. Maybe you wondered why we distributed those pictures among those cards and letters, it was to save adding more stamps to one.
I am going to the shower this evening at Ardis'. Am going over to Grandma's after work to have supper and clean-up instead of going home.
Well I'll finish this letter later maybe I'll have a letter awaiting me- one never knows.
(1:00 AM)
Oh darling, such a lovely letter from you. You are the most wonderful husband. No we were not together much but I feel this way, we will soon when such time permits. We have everything wonderful to look forward to, haven't we. Each other. Oh darling, we have a whole life to have a wonderful time together and just think- we don't have the worry and fear of having to be separated by an ocean, like so many couples. Oh I love you so darling and always shall.
You know I think once you are stationed one place for a while and lady luck presents us with just the right buy in a car. Then when ever you are moved I will be able to move with you on the same gas that I believe they allow you don't they. It won't be half bad.
You know sweetheart I can hardly wait to hear whether you move with them or stay. Of course I realize you will let me know when you know. I have [a] hunch that you will go with the bunch to NY. Sounds you can't take the climb [and] be transferred south in a couple of wks. to a month to the south of Florida or something- you know I sorta sometimes wish while you were moving around you can see LA or near. I just want you to see that place.
Now to tell you about the lovely shower this evening. It was fixed up so cute with a pink umbrella where they place the presents. For games they worked their names on tea towels, a clever idea. I think we will have the towels. The lovely gift we received was a pair of pillows made from geese feather and some other kind of feathers from your mother. The ticking was a pretty green. Gee but it was lovely that was from your Mother. Won't that be a lovely thing for our home. They will go to the cedar chest until we have a nice home. Nothing doing carrying such lovely pillows around.
This was a personal shower. I got lace neck pieces, hankies, panties, bubble bath. Irene S. stationary, 2 pairs of flannel pajamas, guests towels, $10 from Grandma (you know what I want to get with that money a electric iron. That is something I don't have that we need bad). A modern light weight automatic huh.
Oh darling I must draw this to a close and will write again. It is very late. I am going out Friday even. to your house after work.
Oh sweet heart I love you with all [my] heart. Sweet dreams until tomorrow, sweet dreams.
Loads of love and kisses
Kathleen, your lovely wife
