Nov 14, 1944

Dear Kathleen,

I'm slipping yes indeed. So here is an Airmail letter to make for lost time. Between boating and Physical exercise and duty I've not had much time to spare the past week. Sunday was my day off so I slept late and then went to mess early and went out fishing at noon and caught three nice trout which we cleaned and fried. Say I believe that was about the best fish I've ever eaten. This PM I went with a couple of other boys and we caught eight more trout so perhaps we'll eat again after awhile. I only caught one fish today. We fish out in the bay here. We take turns on taking our days off. Usually one day a week and two or three half days depending upon the amount of work.

I'm still hoping to get a roll of film here this month if everything goes okay. Gee! It certainly won't be long anymore and say am I looking forward toward the 3rd of Dec. for that's when I leave. I'm certainly looking forward to seeing you too as we'll certainly have a lot to do.

Kathleen one of the best cures for those boys across the way is to let them get their experiences off their chest so if one is a good listener they can do them a world of good. We don't have any overseas injured patients here but there is a hospital over at St. Pete which get a lot of those cases.

Florida is very nice at this time of the year but I certainly didn't like the summer months at all. If I could have been outside and wouldn't have had to work well it might have been alright. I'm able to keep my skin condition under control down here. If I could stay out doors more I wouldn't be bothered at all. I sort of believe I like the climate down here better as a whole than that in Calif.

If I can't get a plane off the base here I think I'll take a train for I believe I can get home just a bit sooner by taking a train. I'll be able to leave at 6 PM Sunday Eve. By the way your letter arrived three weeks to the day.

Well it's rather nice if you know how to knit for I think a personal gift is very nice. One can always buy things but hand made things have a value which is priceless. Then too it is a very nice hobby. While I was in the hospital I made some mats but they were knit.

It certainly has been grand down here the past few days. It has been chilly of a morning but just cool enough to make one work. It certainly has been very dark when I've been going to the ward in the morn. though.

I'm planning on going to the movie Thurs. or Fri. as "For When The Bells Toll" is playing and tomorrow at the Service Club they have a "Lil' Abner" dance so perhaps I'll go to that. I signed the payroll the other day so that means this month is almost half gone now.

I must say Good-nite for now and here's hoping to hear from you and see you before very long. Best of everything till then.

Truly Yours,
Milan
