Dear Milan,
You know what-- I can't wait to get home this evening. This noon, I just happened to call mother and she tells me there is an Air Mail from you there, of course that has me rather excited to just know-- are you coming sooner then you expected? Or that you are not going to get to come? Oh heck! It can't be that. There must be some change, I bet. Mother tried to tell me she would open it and read it and see, but I informed her it could wait, however as I sit here with not too much work to do and thinking and wondering just what it could be. Of course I will find out in 4.5 more hours, but that seems Oh! so long.
The folks are going to the annual Farm Bureau Dinner at the auditorium this evening. They were telling me that last year you were a speaker there and that the governor introduced you, that was quite an honor, Milan. That is something to be proud of to say the least, Milan.
It is getting colder here this week, everyone is saying it sure is to snow before the day is over, no sign yet though.
Have been going to the USO several times this week. Found myself playing ping pong and miniature bowling with the girls, that is one way to get some recreation and make the time pass faster, it is I think too. For it is just a little over two weeks before you will be here, I hope, if this letter at home is not telling me different.
(Later)
I was tickled to get that air mail and also glad no changes have been made. Gee! but you write interesting letters. That fish sounds so good, plus those afternoons and day off a week. You know you surely did answer my desire, just this morning I was wishing I'd hear from you, then, it did come. I expected to wait until next Monday. I'm sure counting the days, when you get this, however it will be just two weeks.
A plane- home- that sounds wonderful. Too good! Will your folks meet you? I know they will be anxious to see you. In case they aren't and you don't have a way, if you will give me a ring 25068, we have a car; however I do realize how my folks enjoying visiting with my brothers when they first come in. It means so much to them.
We girls really enjoy hearing about the boys' experience, but we have been informed to keep their minds off of it.
I have a new ride- right to the door now I get home by 5:15 which helps. Incidentally you're doing a good job of talking up Florida. ha! ha!
You say you made some knitted mats? Maybe you could teach me something new, huh! I'd enjoy it.
Will draw this to a close and take this into North Topeka tonight since the folks have gone for the evening. They won't miss that bit of gas and you can get this soon. Bye for now.
With love,
Kathleen
P.S. "Happy Thanksgiving" another work day huh!
