January 7, 1945

Kathleen dear,

If my letter came through you know where I'm at today. The trip went off as planned and we arrived safe and sound early this morning. We unloaded around 7:30 AM and then had a little breakfast and unloaded our baggage. I got my stuff hung up and then washed and shaved for dinner. We had chicken, potatoes and gravy, corn, coffee and ice cream. So far we can't leave the area but as soon as I can I intend to call you honey and find out what I should do. From all indications the sooner I get a place the better off we'll be as there are not very many good places from what I hear and they want a plenty for all of them. One of the boys got a three room apt everything furnished for $59 except he has to pay for electricity and gas.

There is about eight or ten inches of snow on the ground and still is snowing. It is plenty cold but if you are dressed for it isn't too cold. The post is very nice what I've seen of it. I don't have any idea what I'll be doing but I suppose I'll be back in the ward. Well my love I'm sure things will get back to normal before long but right now I don't know whether I'm coming or going. Darling I certainly hope it won't be long and gee it certainly will be grand to have you with me.

Honey it will be a few days before our letters start coming through but I'll bear through it somehow. I'm thinking of you my love and gee I do hope you are fine and dandy. Hope you made it to my folks. Here's a big hello to your Mom and Dad.

There is some talk [from] ward master [that] if they are married will be able to get quarters here on the post but we'd probably have to furnish it which would be great. Well my loved once I shall do the best I can my love. I'll probably have to get a place off the post first and then this place on the post. So dearest that's that my love for now. Ocean of love darling

Loads of hugs and kisses
Your loving Husband
